top five books // 02

It's been awhile since I've mentioned the current five books I'm reading and plan to read.

Paul Eluard's Poésies 1913-1926 is the collection that I'm working on now. Eluard's use of  imagery is simply intriguing.  Reading his poems is like having the man of your dreams ask you to dance.

I have not yet started on Paul Eluard's Poésie et Vérité 1942, but I'm excited to start on this collection. Perhaps it will lead to another twirl around the dance floor.

The Collected Poems of Dylan Thomas is a book I often return to in the spring.  Thomas' inverted meanings are easily digested with the freshness in the air after an afternoon rain.

The America Play by Suzan-Lori Parks is another text I return to in the spring. It has something to do with Lincoln. I think texts that grapple with his life and death should only be read as the flowers start to bloom.

"Nana" by  Émile Zola is a suggested text and I have yet to begin. But, I have heard great things about this book.
