procrastination

I've been lagging for the past few weeks in procrastination city. I'm supposed to read a few books, file taxes (check, finally done today), select a text for my Fall course, purchase tickets for the May trip, work on new poems for the next collection, order supplies for the paper craft, and the list goes on. But, it's way more fun to play solitare, lounge around, and eat cherry tomatoes and carrots. I swear, "The Last Days of Disco" has been on repeat for days. And I take away something new with each view. Like the scene where the "Lady and the Tramp" is deconstructed. Priceless.

I finally finished Isn't It Romantic?: An Entertainment, by Ron Hansen. And I wish I had gotten more out of it. I like the whimsy, lovers' romp in Middle America. It's cute, reminds me of those times I've pouted to get what I wanted. And I'm a fan of adding French phrases into English texts. But, the way Hansen does so becomes cumbersome around page 15. He dumbs it down. It seems he doesn't trust that his readers are thinkers. I finished the book wishing I didn't understand French. I may have enjoyed it a bit more.

I'm also pretty excited about Revolving Door. My baby's growing and making all kinds of great new friends. And Red Kiva is so good to us. I'm still giddy from this month's reading! We have some pretty neat things lined-up for the next few months. I swear, it's gonna be a great summer.
